In 1999 and 2000, we helped the Pinecrest-Queensway Health and Social Services, a community health centre serving the western end of the former City of Ottawa, to lease and fit-up approximately 21,000 square feet of space on the 2nd and 3rd floors of an office building at 1365 Richmond Road in Ottawa, with a capital cost of $1.5 million. A complex construction phasing process was required because the centre already occupied much of the space being renovated. Architect Ralph VandenBerg and designer Brenda Atkinson introduced a 2 storey atrium and staircase with skylight and windows on one side, linking the clinical and counselling areas on the second floor with public meeting and office areas on the third floor, and flooding natural light into the reception and waiting areas.
